2-12-08: Make your handshake more intimate.

Scenario: You shake hands a lot and you are looking for a way to show a little bit more intimacy with the other person.

Solution: Use both hands. Now, I do not recommend that you extend both hands at the same time and shake the other person's hand in a crazy fashion. That will not build any sort of intimacy. What you want to do is shake hands the best way you know how. (If you are not sure of the best way to shake hands, read "Shaking Hands to Build Rapport" under the feature articles section of Body Language University.)

Then what you want to do is reach over with your left hand and wrap it around the person hand as sort of a double handed handshake. The more intimate or closeness you would like to express to that person the higher up the arm your left hand should go. You could reach out and cup the elbow of their right arm while shaking their hand or even reach out and touch their shoulder. the higher you go up the arm, the more intimate or close your connection.

BEWARE: This should only be attempted with someone that you have a connection or bond with. I would advise against using this tactic when meeting someone for the very first time.
